SEMI: 3,600 Companies, Doubled in 10
Years, Contributing to Semiconductor Standards and Technological Advancement Amid
the radical advancement of AI reshaping the global semiconductor supply chain,
a grand festival for the semiconductor industry has opened to showcase emerging
trends and new opportunities.
SEMICON KOREA 2025 is
being held at COEX, Seoul, from February 19 to 21. This year’s event is the largest in
history, expanding beyond COEX Halls A, B, C, D, and E to also include the
Grand Ballroom and the Plaza. Approximately 500 companies will present
advanced technologies across 2,301 booths. The exhibition brings together
leading global design houses and chipmakers such as AMD,
Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Micron, GlobalFoundries,
and Kioxia,
alongside major semiconductor equipment and materials companies including ASML,
Applied Materials, Lam Research, TEL, and KLA. Themed “LEAD
THE EDGE,”
SEMICON KOREA 2025 highlights edge technologies driving innovation in the
semiconductor industry amid transformative forces such as AI. Over three days, more than 200 industry
experts will deliver talks across 30 conferences, covering topics such as: Advanced semiconductor manufacturing
technologies across six process areas △Smart manufacturing △Metrology and inspection △Testing △Compound power semiconductors △Sustainability △Cybersecurity △Market trends △Investment opportunities △R&D collaboration The event will open with keynote speeches
from AMD,
Applied Materials, imec, Samsung Electronics, and Synopsys. Jae-hyuk
Song, President of Samsung Electronics, will speak on “Semiconductor
Innovation for A Better Life.” Luc Van den hove, CEO of imec, will
present on “The
Versatile Future of Semiconductor Systems.” Bill En, Corporate VP of AMD, will
discuss “Demand
for Power Efficiency in the Age of AI.” Ravi Subramanian, Chief Product
Management Officer of Synopsys, will address “Powering
Innovation in the Era of Pervasive Intelligence.” Prabu
Raja, President of Applied Materials, will present “Accelerating
Energy-Efficient Semiconductors through Collaborative Innovation.” Technical programs include the SEMI
Technology Symposium (STS), Metrology and Inspection (MI) Forum, Test Forum,
Smart Manufacturing Forum, Compound Power Semiconductor Summit, and Cybersecurity
Forum. In addition, an Environmental
and Safety Forum, business programs, and initiatives for talent development and
diversity enhancement
will also take place.
▲Hyun-dae Cho,
President of SEMI Korea, explains about SEMICON KOREA 2025
At a press conference held on the morning
of the opening day, February 19, Hyun-dae
Cho, President of SEMI Korea, introduced SEMICON KOREA and stated
that SEMI now has over 3,600 member companies worldwide. He noted that in recent years, not only
semiconductor materials and equipment companies but also automotive
OEMs and all companies utilizing semiconductors have joined as members, leading to
a significant expansion—more than doubling over the past decade. Leveraging this scale, SEMI has been
actively contributing to establishing semiconductor standards,
guiding technological innovation, and fostering external collaboration.
Cho emphasized, “While
the growth of AI is regarded as a key driver of the semiconductor industry, it
also brings greater technical demands and the need for stronger global
collaboration. As SEMICON KOREA 2025 serves as a venue where the global
semiconductor supply chain converges, I hope all participants will discover new
business partnerships and insights to strengthen competitiveness.” |
