SEMICON KOREA 2024, a
premier exhibition showcasing the present and future of the global
semiconductor industry, opened on January 31 at COEX in Seoul and will run for
three days.
The event brings together not only
Korea’s leading semiconductor companies such as Samsung
Electronics and SK
hynix, but
also global chipmakers including Micron, GlobalFoundries,
Infineon, and Kioxia, as well as numerous equipment and
materials companies, making it a one-stop venue to see the entire semiconductor
industry. In total, more than 500 companies from around the world are
participating.
Held under the theme “Innovation
Beyond Borders,”
SEMICON KOREA 2024 is designed to highlight the collaboration and innovation
across technologies, nations, and enterprises necessary to manufacture
semiconductor chips that meet the demands of advanced applications.
In his opening remarks, Hyun-dae
Cho, President of SEMI Korea, which organized SEMICON KOREA, stated, “I
hope that the more than 500 participating companies will build new partnerships
and gain fresh insights through the technical conferences. During this dynamic
period for the semiconductor ecosystem, I encourage all companies to use the
exhibition as an opportunity to seek new momentum for their growth and
development.”
In his welcome speech, Yong-han
Lee, Chairman of the WONIK Group, said, “Human
civilization has advanced rapidly over the past half-century, with
semiconductors at its core. AI, built on semiconductors, is producing more and
more data, and meeting this challenge requires even more semiconductors. This
represents a tremendous opportunity for Korea’s semiconductor industry and a
chance to further elevate the nation’s status as a semiconductor powerhouse.”
In addition to the opening ceremony on
January 31, the exhibition will feature a range of programs including keynote
speeches
sharing the latest market trends, technical conferences
highlighting cutting-edge technologies, and—for the first time this year—the Startup
Forum,
designed to support Korean startups entering the global market.
During SEMICON KOREA, SEMI will also host
the SEMI
Awards Ceremony,
which recognizes companies that have made significant contributions to the
advancement of Korea’s semiconductor industry.
A representative of SEMI Korea commented,
“SEMICON
KOREA 2024 will not only serve as a venue where customers and suppliers come
together but will also showcase the key technologies and latest trends driving
advanced semiconductors. It will play a pivotal role as a business platform
supporting the global expansion of Korea’s equipment and materials companies.”
